As a result of continual efforts by the Alumni Corporation Board of our Alpha Gamma Chapter to identify ways to better the fraternity experience of our brothers and to extend our successful presence at Georgia Tech indefinitely, the Alpha Gamma Century Campaign was established. The Campaign will raise money over several years solely for the construction of a new chapter house with the house dedication ceremony set to be conducted at Homecoming 2020 in connection with the hundredth anniversary of our Chapter. The new chapter house will incorporate modern design and amenities to enhance the recruitment, academic, and social functions of the Alpha Gamma Chapter as it begins its second century at Georgia Tech.

The Alpha Gamma chapter house was originally constructed in 1953 and was partially renovated in 2002 in conjunction with chapter recolonization and rechartering. Since that 2002 renovation, however, aesthetic and operational issues have surfaced. After extensive and thorough discussions by the ACB and the Chapter, both agree that further renovations upon the existing structure would not be the best use of the Fraternity’s resources. Instead, an all new chapter house should be built yielding far greater long-term recruitment benefits, academic success, and social value for the Fraternity than further the current should begin immediately.
The Alpha Gamma Century Campaign is a three-fold effort to raise funds exclusively for a new chapter house. The Campaign draws from (1) undergraduate contributions, (2) annual alumni contributions, and (3) a full-scale capital campaign shortly before construction of the new house.
(1) Undergraduate Contributions
The Chapter supports the Campaign by donating to the Alpha Gamma Century Fund at least $20 per brother and new member per semester.
(2) Annual Alumni Contributions
The Campaign is seeking alumni contributions beginning immediately with an initial goal of 100 alumni committed by Homecoming 2008 to donating at least $100 per year for the duration of the Campaign. Contributing alumni will become members in the Alpha Gamma Alumni Chapter, an organization independent of the ACB and Chapter that will spearhead the ultimate full-scale capital campaign. The Alumni Chapter will seek to increase the number of alumni committed to annual donations to the Campaign by 10% each year. One-time donations to the Campaign are certainly welcomed; however, these will not be counted toward the goal for annual pledges.
(3) Full-Scale Capital Campaign
The ACB will begin seeking major donations beginning Homecoming 2017, roughly two years before construction of the new house will commence, with the goal of completely funding the new house construction on a cash basis. The ACB may employ a fundraising consultant in furtherance of this goal.
Brothers who pledge to the Campaign at the Century Club level or higher will automatically receive membership in the Alpha Gamma Alumni Chapter and receive an Alpha Gamma Century Campaign pin. The Alumni Chapter is an organization recognized by the National Fraternity that is separate from both the undergraduate Chapter and the ACB. After this initial pledge drive for the Century Campaign, the Alumni Chapter will elect officers and spearhead the fundraising efforts for the Century Campaign and help to reconnect both pre-1998 alumni and post-rechartering alumni by organizing the annual homecoming luncheon and spring golf tournament. The Alumni Chapter will also give our alumni two additional votes at national conventions, including the one rumored to be scheduled for Atlanta in 2011, and will further solidify our presence as one of the preeminent chapters in Delta Sigma Phi.
After researching various options, the ACB has unanimously approved that all funds collected from the Alpha Gamma Century Campaign be invested in the Fidelity Balanced Fund (FBALX). FBALX is a Morningstar 5-star rated fund and was ranked #5 out of 237 balanced funds by Lipper. The expense ratio is a low 0.60%, and there is no loading fee. The ACB believes that FBALX offers both a competitive rate of return and adequate security in the growth of the fund. For more information about the Fidelity Balanced Fund, visit www.fidelity.com.
Brothers and friends of the Fraternity that wish to support the Chapter’s efforts for a new house may make a pledge to the Alpha Gamma Capital Fund by clicking one of the donation buttons above. Credit cards will be processed by the ACB’s merchant account with Paypal, but a Paypal account is not required to make a credit card donation. Pledges to one of the named donation levels will automatically be charged to your credit card annually on the date of your first pledge. At any time, contributors may opt out of the Campaign. Donations can also be made by check. Please contact centurycampaign@godeltasig.com for information on how to send donation via standard mail.
Please consider making a donation today. The Greek system at Georgia Tech is thriving and is more competitive than ever. The renovations made to the chapter house in 2002 are quickly becoming obsolete in light of the ever-increasing reconstruction and renovation efforts on fraternity houses around campus. Though the Alpha Gamma Century Campaign is a long-term plan, it requires immediate action. Alumni from all generations must participate for the Campaign to be a success. Please consider making a pledge today. Your brothers, past, present, and future, will thank you.
